Finding foods — search, barcodes & your own
Verified USDA data first, a barcode scanner for the wrapper in your hand, and custom foods and recipes for everything you actually cook.

Search, verified first
Type “greek yogurt” and PES searches two sources at once: USDA FoodData Central — US lab-verified data, marked with a ✓ verified badge — and Open Food Facts for branded and community items. Verified results rank first, repeated searches return instantly, and every result says where it came from, so you know how much to trust the label. Picking a verified food loads its real household servings — cups, slices, “1 large,” the label serving — with the most natural one preselected, so macros scale correctly without any math on your part.
02
Scan a barcode
Scan a barcode points your camera at the wrapper and pulls the product. A miss never dead-ends: the digits roll into a manual entry, pre-filled, so you correct them or re-scan in the same flow. Packaged food shouldn’t take longer to log than to eat.
03
Describe a meal
Faster still: describe the meal in words — “2 eggs and a bagel with cream cheese” — and PES drafts the entry with estimated macros. Like everything the AI touches, it proposes and you confirm.
04
Your own foods
The Foods tab is your kitchen: custom foods (per serving or per 100 g), recipes with per-serving macros, meal templates for one-tap logging, meal ideas with favorites, and the groceries checklist — add items as meals get planned, check them off at the store, Clear checked when you’re home.
